Glamazons Against DOmestic Violence

Chicago, IL - Random
Glam Wigs & Accessories is using glamour to shine a light on domestic
violence Nov. 1 with Glamazons Against Domestic Violence. The event, which will
be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at 7207 S. Exchange Ave., will benefit Annie’s
Legacy, a women’s resource center in South Shore that provides one-on-one
mentoring and life skills training to domestic violence survivors.

Glamazons Against
Domestic Violence will feature entertainment, including a special performance
by a local spoken word artist, who also is a survivor of an abusive
relationship. Guest will have an opportunity to find out more about Annie’s
Legacy, the fight against domestic violence and how to become mentors to women
in need. Hor d’oeuvres will be sponsored by Chef Sara’s Café, 7201 S. Exchange
Ave., Chicago. Raffle items will include several one-year memberships to the
YMCA, one-of-a-kind handcrafted jewelry, handbags and more.

“Domestic violence continues to be one of the most

unreported crimes in our society,” said Annie’s Legacy founder, Beverly Billy. “Many women blame themselves or are too ashamed to

report the abuse for fear of judgment.  Silence perpetuates violence.  Let’s be the voice for the voiceless.  Annie’s Legacy is looking for a few ‘good

girlfriends’ to help us help survivors.”

organization and how to become a mentor or “Good Girlfriend” to survivors. Proceeds
from the $10 donation at the door and raffles will benefit Annie’s Legacy.  The organization also will receive partial
proceeds from all wigs, handbags and accessories sold that evening.

“As a small business
committed to empowering women to look and feel fabulous, we are passionate about supporting women in need,” said LaTrina Shepherd, owner of Random Glam,
Inc. “We’re proud to help generate discussion about the devastation that
domestic violence causes and to support such an amazing organization devoted to
assisting survivors.”
