105-Year-Old South Sider Knits Miles of Blankets and Scarves for Misericordia

On her birthday, one great-grandmother's only got one wish. She just wants one more year with her beloved family.

Nonna Rossi immigrated to America in 1929, and she and her husband Joe Rossi built a home on Chicago's South Side in what is now the flight path for Midway Airport. At 105, Nonna is still going strong, knitting hats, scarves and blankets for Misericordia and enjoying the company of her extended family. She was recently profiled by Patch's friends at WGN News as a one of Chicago's Very Own.
