Beverly Arts Center Presents a Powerful Documentary: Girl Rising

Watch a film that shows how the power of one is all it takes to make a difference.

With the back-to-school season in full swing in Beverly and Mt. Greenwood, it's sometimes easy to forget how much the words "back-to-school" could mean to a young girl in another country. Education is extraordinarily valuable to young girls in the world, and that is why documentarian Richard E. Robbins set out to create a film which "showcases the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world."

Tonight at 7:30 p.m., the Beverly Arts Center will be screening the film Girl Rising. Watch as nine girls from nine countries take that courageous step towards seeking an education. Each story is written by one of nine celebrated writers and narrated by one of nine renowned actresses, including Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep.

Tickets are $10 for non-members and $5.50 for members (must be paid at the door to get member discount).

This is not director Richard E. Robbins' first rodeo. He has been previously nominated for an Academy Award and has had two Emmy nominations for his film, Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience.

Enjoy an incredible documentary at your local theatre this evening and visit girlrising.com to see how you can make a difference to a girl in need.
