A man was shot in the 9900 block of S. Walden Parkway, according to police.
A man is in critical condition after a Wednesday afternoon shooting in Beverly. The man who is in his 30s was shot multiple times in the foyer of a building on the 9900 block of South Walden Parkway, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said. The shooting occurred at about 12:30 p.m. The suspect immediately fled and has not been apprehended by police, O'Brien said. A description was not immediately available. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital where he is in critical condition, O'Brien said. Ald. The animal tested positive for rabies. City officials warn of the importance of getting your pet vaccinated for rabies.
The city of Chicago Commission of Animal Control announced on Tuesday that a bat has tested positive for rabies in the West Beverly/Morgan Park area. The bat was discovered on the 2600 block of W. 107th Street on Saturday, May 5. A rabies examination by the Illinois State Public Health Laboratory determined that the bat was infected with rabies. Animal care urges residents to keep their dogs, cats and ferrets on a leash when they are outside of the home. They also recommend that you take any pet without a current rabies vaccination to a veterinarian to be inoculated. As always, it is not a good idea to handle any bats you may find. Sweet Freaks specializes in handcrafted chocolates and classic candies.
Freshly made chocolate creations fill the shelves of a new sweet shop where a Beverly couple hopes to build a thriving business. Katie and Pat Murphy opened Sweet Freaks, 9915 S. Walden Parkway, last week and a steady flow of customers and candy gazers have been filtering into the shop in the days since. "We opened really fast and everything has just fallen into our laps," said Katie Murphy. It only took about 30 days to open the shop which grew from a successful catering and candy-making business. Pat Murphy is a trained chef who does catering and has been the head chef at large music events.
