McAuley Water Polo Takes 3rd in State

The Mighty Macs finish the 28-5 season with a win over Mundelein

They just kept swimming. The Mother McAuley varsity water polo team grabbed third place in the IHSA state finals Saturday beating the Mundelein Mustangs 11-9. The Mighty Macs ended the season with an overall record of 29-5, Mundelein finished with a 27-8 record. The Macs, coming off an 8-7 loss against St. Ignatius earlier Saturday, never fell behind. Kristen Kleist scored the first goal of the game halfway through the first quarter, but Allie Boothe responded with Mundelein’s first point of the game about a minute later. Kleist and Boothe were both top scorers, with 5 and 6 goals, respectively. Clare Bryar put in three shots for the Macs. Both teams presented strong defenses throughout the game, which had several turnovers and ejections …

Mother McAuley to Compete in National Science Bowl

If the team wins, they'll get a trip to Washington D.C. where they will compete on national-level.

A group of exceptionally brainy Mother McAuley students are prepping to go up against some of Chicago’s finest high schools in the regional round of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Scicence’s National Science Bowl. The competition is one of 120 regional bowls across the country. It will take place Feb. 23 at Evanston Township High School. If the girls win, they will receive a fully paid trip to Washington D.C. in late April where they will compete on a national level for prizes for both the team and Mother McAuley High School—although exactly what those prizes are has yet to be determined. Funeral Services Set for Inspirational Educator Mary C. Lynch

Mary Clare Lynch spent over a decade organizing student service projects at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School.

Fondly remembered educator Mary Clare Lynch died on Jan. 11.  Ms. Lynch was well known as the student services director at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, a position she held from 1996 to 2007. In that role she oversaw student service projects.  She was a 1982 graduate of Mother McAuley.  Ms. Lynch is survived by her parents Richard "Bud" and Diane Lynch; siblings Gail (Bruce) Bedingfield, Michael (Jean) Lynch, James (Mary) Lynch and Kenneth (Doreen) Lynch; and nieces and nephews Ryan (Bridgid) Bedingfield, Mandy (Patrick) Rogers, Andrew, Rachel, Marie, Jimmy, Sarah and Taylor Lynch.  Friends and former students took to social media sites to pay tribute to a woman remebered for her passion toward service.  "A truly wonderful woman…

Funeral Arrangements Set For McAuley Student Bridget Cullen, 17

The Mother McAuley student will be waked on Friday, Jan. 4.

Bridget Anne Cullen, 17, died suddenly on New Year's Day.  Cullen was a senior at Mother McAuley High School. She is survived by her parents Michael and Anne, nee Cronin; siblings Kaitlyn and Michael; grandparents George and Marge Cullen and the late Michael and Margaret Cronin.  Mother McAuley released a statement on her death:  The Mother McAuley School Community mourns the sudden and unexpected death of Bridget Cullen '13, a beloved member of the McAuley family. As a result, Alumnae Basketball Night and Grammar School Basketball Night, scheduled for Friday, January 4th at McAuley have been canceled. Please keep Bridget and the Cullen family in your prayers. Local Student Honored at Mother McAuley

Katherine Kezon, a senior at Mother McAuley and graduate of St. Christina, was awarded a prestigious honor.

Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2012 Catherine McAuley Award:  senior Katherine Kezon and faculty member Teresa LeCompte.   Katherine Kezon embodies the work of Catherine McAuley in her exceptional leadership and service to the community, and to our school. Katherine is a member of Saint Christina Parish, where she attended elementary school and now is a lector and Youth Group retreat leader. She also volunteers with the Hidden Talents Youth Group from Queen of Martyrs parish. At McAuley, she serves as a Student Ambassador Leader, McAuley Mentor Leader, Student Council senior class co-chair, Kairos Leader, as well as a member of the National Honor Society and Action Reaction. 2012 Chicago Classic Volleyball Brings Women’s College Play To Mother McAuley

The 2012 Chicago Classic, women’s college volleyball tournament, returns to Chicago’s south side September 8th and 9th, announced Elite Volleyball Program organizer Therese Boyle Niego.

  The 2012 Chicago Classic will once again play host to some of the nation’s premier lady’s volleyball programs at Mother McAuley High School. The two-day, four-team tournament is headlined by perennial powerhouse Penn State with Oregon State, DePaul and UIC all lining upfor the challenge of matching up against the Nittany Lions, five-time national champions. “The Olympics helped spotlight the grace, beauty and power of women’s volleyball so this is aunique chance to see up close all that these athletes bring to the game,” said Niego. “We’ve worked hard to get the elite here and made the ticket prices affordable for families.” The schedule will play out as: Saturday, Sept. 8th, 2012 Sunday, Sept 9th, 2012 Ticket prices are $15 per family …
