Arrest Made in Walden Parkway Shooting

Ald. Matt O'Shea says that police have arrested a man in connection with the May 15 shooting.

A man is in custody in connection with the May 15 shooting that occurred on the 9900 block of South Walden Parkway in Beverly.  Ald. Matt O'Shea (19th) says that Chicago Police and the U.S. Marshals Service were able to track David Twine, 29, of Matteson, to Arkansas were he was apprehended Friday. Twine was identified by police as the suspect in the incident that left a man in his 30s in critical condition after he was shot multiple times in the foyer of his apartment building. It is believed that the shooting was not a random act and that the victim and suspect knew each other, O'Shea said at the time. Police believe that the shots were fired after an argument between the two men.

Police Release Walden Parkway Shooting Suspect's Name and Photo

The Chicago Police Department is hunting for a suspect in yesterday's shooting on the 9900 block of South Walden Parkway and have released his name and picture.

Police are currently searching for the man they believe to be the gunman in yesterday's shooting on the 9900 block of Walden Parkway.  The suspect has been identified as David Twine, 29, of Matteson. Police say he was seen driving a black 2012 Cadillac SRX with a Illinois license plate number P24450. He is considered armed and extremely dangerous, according to police.  The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the foyer of an apartment building on the 9900 block of South Walden Parkway in Beverly, police said. A man in his 30s was shot multiple times and transported to Advocate Christ Hospital. He was in critical, but stable condition as of last night, according to Ald. DUI Strike Force to Patrol the Neighborhood This Weekend

The Chicago Police Department announced that they will be cracking down on drunken drivers this weekend in the 22nd District.

Drunks beware, the Chicago Police Department has announced that the DUI Strike Force will be out patrolling the 22nd District this weekend.  The program is designed to saturate a particular area with roving police officers who will monitor vehicles for signs that drivers are impaired, according to a news release.  In addition to DUI efforts, officers will also be on the lookout for speeding, alcohol-related and seat belt violations. The mobile Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) unit might also be making an appearance in Beverly, Morgan Park and Mount Greenwood. The unit allows officers to expedite the time it takes to charge an offender with DUI. The mobile unit lets officers issue I-Bonds on site, according to police.  The operation will take …

Man in Critical Condition After Beverly Shooting - UPDATED

A man was shot in the 9900 block of S. Walden Parkway, according to police.

A man is in critical condition after a Wednesday afternoon shooting in Beverly.  The man who is in his 30s was shot multiple times in the foyer of a building on the 9900 block of South Walden Parkway, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.  The shooting occurred at about 12:30 p.m. The suspect immediately fled and has not been apprehended by police, O'Brien said. A description was not immediately available.  The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital where he is in critical condition, O'Brien said.  Ald. Man Who Reported Public Indecency Tells His Story

The man who called police on Daniel Vorberg, who was charged with public indecency after he was reported to have masturbated in his car near a Mount Greenwood school, speaks out about the incident.

The man who is the witness to a recent Mt. Greenwood crime wants to make sure people understand exactly what happened.  He says that he and his fiance are the two witnesses to the alleged crimes of Daniel Vorberg, 30, the Oak Lawn man they say was masturbating in a car on the 11200 block of S. Spaulding Ave. just down the street from Cassell School in Mount Greenwood. On April 30, around 4 p.m., his fiance saw a car parked on the street on the side of their home, something seemed off. In front of the house around their porch was a group of about six kids, between six and nine years of age, he said. 37 Requests for Graffiti Removal in the 19th Ward This Year

The city has added more workers to graffiti removal crews, but the number of graffiti reports in the 19th Ward remains relatively low.

Five new painters are making their way around the city combatting a widespread graffiti problem that some officials argue should have been remedied long ago. But graffiti removal slowed down after the city's budget was cut a few years ago, according to reports. Graffiti Blasters is a city program that began in 1993 under Mayor Daley, an ABC News story says. "The point was to remove the graffiti quickly on private and public property so vandals wouldn't have a chance to put it up again," the publication reports. So far in 2013, there have been only 37 requests for graffiti removal in the 19th Ward, according to city data. Off-Duty CPD Cop Catches 2 Alleged Thieves

Chicago cop helps catch thieves in Evergreen Park, police say.

On Sunday, April 28, an off-duty Chicago police officer caught a couple of theives in the act, according to Evergreen Park police.  Ebony Richardson, 33, and Chiaka Davis, 40, both of the 10200 block of South Pulaski Road, Oak Lawn, were charged with retail theft, according to a report. An off-duty Chicago Police Department officer was getting gas at about 5:31 p.m. at the Shell Gas Station, 10258 South Kedzie Ave., when he allegedly spotted someone taking a pair of glasses. This led to an investigation and arrest of two people for theft. Richardson and Davis are accused of taking $155.95 worth of items.
