Admission is based on a lottery. The school offer traditional high school classes with the aim of qualifying students for college, as well as a unique agricultural program. Students are given the opportunity to gain skills in animal science, agricultural mechanics, food science, landscape design and agricultural finance.
The school's extensive grounds include a working farm, the last one within the city limits of Chicago.
