Prayers at the funeral home are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. April 5. The funeral is scheduled for Friday, April 5 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Christina Catholic Church, 111th and Homan. Following is the Archdiocese of Chicago's official obituary for the late Fr. Patrick Henry of St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Oak Lawn. Rev. Patrick Henry, pastor of St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish, died Monday, March 11, in Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park. Fr. Henry was taken to the hospital with internal hemorrhaging that resulted in organ failure. He was 61 years old and a priest of the Archdiocese for 23 years. St. Catherine’s associate pastor, Fr. Stanley Stuglik, described Fr. Henry as “peaceful, kind, gentle, with a cheerful disposition,” who was also an attentive listener. Fr. Paramedics noticed the man after his car gently collided with the firehouse garage door, but they were too late to help him.
Eric Clegg, 44, died from an apparent heart attack Wednesday afternoon as he was trying to pull into the Beverly fire station driveway for help, Sun-Times Media reports. Police say Clegg’s vehicle made contact with the station door as his car pulled into the driveway around 4:30 p.m., but paramedics were unable to resuscitate him. Rev. Charles Balskus, 73, died last week.
A former associate pastor at St. Christina Parish died Feb. 18 while traveling in Florida. Rev. Charles Balskus, 73, served at St. Christina from 2001 to 2008, according to the Chicago Archdiocese who reported his death. Fr. Balskus was born in Chicago and graduated from Quigley Preparatory Seminary and the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He was ordained a priest in 1965. He began his career at St. William Parish in Chicago, and from 1971 to 1978,was the assistant pastor of St. Philomena Parish. He spent one year at St. John Fisher and then six years as an associate pastor at St. Benedict in Blue Island. Fr. Balskus eventually returned to the Southwest Side and from 1996 to 2001, was associate pastor at St. …
