This is not comedy central....either report news or don't. Making fun of police roundup stories isRead More juvenile. We should be glad they are out there protecting us. Grow up PATCH writers.
Jacob Matthews April 20, 2014 at 10:14 am
Patch writers hide behind a keyboard spewing venom for anyone who can read or be read to. They areRead More cowards. Their "stories" are just that. Not a word of truth in any of them. This website is funded by politicians, more often than not written by them as well hiding behind an editors tag. It's propaganda Flo....and you are correct.....it is childish as well as unprofessional.

Drama is a footprint that Patch, and Mt Greenwoods hyper critical vigilante 19th Ward Alderman haveRead More in common. I'm quite sure that because she was CPD the article did not recieve the scrutiny and rhetoric that Matt O'Shea is so quick to sharpen his poisen pen on. She should consider her badge her lucky charm when having to reside in that lily white community of manufactured evidence.
Thomas Mc April 18, 2014 at 12:28 pm
Good thing they were officers. If he wasn't, a search would have never been done until somethingRead More illegal occurred. If she wasn't, she would likely be explaining her side from the other side of some bars. I took a friend to 19 to report the same thing...father didn't return the kids after a weekend during their divorce. They were both still married and had joint custody, although she had sole physical custody. The report was made but nothing could be done until a judge ordered the kids returned. And that sometimes takes a bit of time.
Jacob Matthews April 18, 2014 at 04:47 pm
The 19th ward does not act .......they re-act. They are sheep being led astray by an alcoholicRead More ex-bartender elected to fill a position no one else wanted. Matt O'Shea is a drama queen that clearly sides with the union that signs his paycheck. I can see his "merrionette" strings being pulled by the corrupt hands of the CPD who own and operate the Irish pubs that tend to his addiction.
Chicago Police community alert for Daniel and Owen Duignan.

Why if no amber alert are we looking for these children are with there mother.
Dennis Robaugh (Editor) April 17, 2014 at 12:34 pm
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, to activate an Amber Alert, "Plans require a childRead More be at risk for serious bodily harm or death before an alert can be issued."
Valerie Girote Ross April 17, 2014 at 12:43 pm
Why are all police searching if the children are not in harms way????

I know that the family is frustrated with the lack of information from the police. However, policeRead More departments in real life do not operate like they do in Hollywood. They do not share information about ongoing investigations due to legal ramifications.

Chaney was still getting paid in 2010. Selling of stock is one thing deferred compensation isRead More another. I note that you omitted mention about your children and grandchildren's taxes having to be used for being used to pay down the Bush the stupid war. I have refrained from bring up the other cost of the war you dismiss without mention. I'm talking about The good young soldiers and Marines killed, maimed, blinded, without limbs. psycho, and substance addicted. They will be tucked away and forgotten in veterans hospitals, or even worse, for-profit "nursing homes". @ knee jerk. Although the upper limit IQ for officers is 105, the target IQ is between 94-98. TheRead More average IQ of a U.S. citizen is 100. Whenever you are speaking to a police officer, you are most likely speaking to someone with an IQ considerably Lower than your own. Please remember to speak slowly, always try to limit the amount of syllables in each word to less than three, and try not to laugh... Cuz They get Really Paranoid. Must be the drugs.

Does anything happen in Darien anymore?! I never see any articles about anything happening inRead More Darien, the Lion's Club pancake breakfast, the armed robberies at the gas stations, the 75th St. construction, city council budget, anything Darien related! How can you call this the Darien Patch when there is nothing about Darien in. Every other town or city has a Patch site that has articles related to their town. We get lazy editors who just copy and paste from other news sites.
Kelly O' March 30, 2014 at 06:17 pm
You don't have a lot of crime in Darien. Thank your lucky stars.

@Bambi: OMGPD is a feature that recounts some of the more unusual crime stories in the Chicago-areaRead More suburbs. Bobby K, You are so right. I knew a police officer many years ago that made a comment to meRead More regarding these thieves, gang bangers and scum bags that have no respect for our police officers and I'll never forget it.."TAKE THEM ALL, LINE THEM UP, SHOOT THEM ALL AND LET GOD OR THE DEVIL SORT THEM OUT". I have no sympathy for these mommies that get on TV and say "my boy is a good boy and the police set him up because these mommies failed to raise their scum bag juniors properly. They don't raise their kids with morals as they don't have any either. My heart goes out to the family of this wonderful police officer. May he rest in peace. BTW, you little scum bags he was blind..What a threat.. May you rot in hell.

Actually, today (April 4th) she WAS fired. However, I find it a great example of ridiculous unionRead More rules that it took them this long to do so.
Tom RS. April 5, 2014 at 09:13 am
She will have cost all us taxpayers a lot of money when this is all done. Millions in lawsuits andRead More probably a million plus in repairs to the system. I could be wrong, but maybe a little more training and evaluation needs to be implemented before someone is turned loose at the controls...

Arthur....the complaint about unions is that they defend employees such as her....she should haveRead More been fired the first time! She has people's lives in her hands....unions make it impossible to weed out bad employees...
Arthur Huff March 27, 2014 at 09:51 am
Deerfield, if it comes out that the union had a role in what happened in February being handled theRead More way it was then I'm right there with you. But we don't know that yet. All we know now is that the CTA handled it that way, we don't know why. For what it's worth, and I'm just pointing out facts for the sake of the discussion, in this crash and the one in New York it was a union official who told the press that the operator dozed off. Doesn't sound like they were trying to protect either of them, does it? In both of these cases they could just give us the standard "we are still trying to determine the cause blah blah blah" but in both cases they admitted right away that the driver was totally at fault. I'm not saying unions are perfect and don't obstruct weeding out bad employees, i.e teachers and tenure, but in this case we have no indication YET that it played a role.
Sue1 March 28, 2014 at 10:25 am
It would be interesting to get a copy of their contract. I would bet they have some sort ofRead More progressive discipline language in it, which would explain why she wasn't fired after the first incident.
