‘Get In, Get Art’ on Sunday
Free activities are fun for the whole family!
Get In, Get Art, a monthly series of free art activities for all ages is offered at the Beverly Arts Center (BAC), 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago. The series is just one of the many family-friendly offerings at the Center.
On Sunday, Dec., 1, 1 to 3 p.m., Get In, Get Art: Get Mixin’ covers the art of holiday entertaining and decorating. Bartenders from The Harvest Room present a mixology workshop for adults. Cookie decorating artists Mindy Day and Laurie Ach will teach kids and adults how to make spectacular holiday cookies. Wine expert Nick Stiglitch will answer wine and food pairing questions, and kids. There will be caroling, a mini-musical by talented BAC students, arts projects and lots more! And it’s all FREE!

Get Mixin’ participants of all ages will get into the holiday spirit with BAC instructor Ricky Harris teaching some favorite Christmas carols, then leading the group of singers throughout the Center. The BAC Stage Performance Company, a group of talented BAC theater and music students, will perform the mini-musical “Home for the Holidays.” Instructor Erin Barnett will lead a workshop in social dancing.
Activities for the little ones include ornament and decoration making.

Upcoming Get In, Get Art programs are Get Fixin’, Sun., Jan. 12, 2 to 4 p.m., featuring a workshop using broken items you just can’t throw away to repurpose as art, and Get Global on Sun., Feb. 23, 2 to 4 p.m., featuring the art of world cultures.
