FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6

An Evening with M&R Rush

The original members of M&R Rush, the exciting classic rock band with exceptional harmonies & melodic catchy songs, will be playing the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W 111th St. at 8 p.m. From the time the show starts till the final encore, the audience knows they are witnessing something special. Their ability to connect to the crowd and to have a lot of fun while making great music is unbelievable. Tickets are $12. 

Sertoma Centre Holiday Bazaar

Looking for gift ideas that won’t break the bank? The Sertoma Center at at 4343 W. 123rd Street in Alsip, is hosting its annual holiday bazaar. Crafts range in price from $1 to $10, and feature a large number of holiday craft booths, many hand-made by individuals with disabilities. Rudolph’s Reindeer Boutique includes tables of holiday gifts and handcrafted items. The Boutique will also feature gift items which were donated from the International Housewares Show at McCormick Place. Personalized pet items are also back this year. After you shop, enjoy a snack at the North Pole Cafe. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7

Dickens Christmas and Tree Lighting

The Village of Evergreen Park will host its annual Dickens Christmas and Tree Lighting at Klein Park located 97th Street and Homan Avenue in Evergreen Park. The holiday celebration features Santa and his reindeer, train, sleigh rides and LOTS of entertainment. The celebration starts at 2 p.m. with the tree lighting ceremony taking place at 6 p.m.

Trans Infinity Orchestra Live at the Beverly Arts Center
Trans-Infinity Orchestra was created to be a holiday experience for all. Featuring the music of Trans Siberian Orchestra and telling the story of Christmas around the world. This is done with a musical ensemble second to none, an angelic choir and a light show that is state of the art. Of course, it would not be complete without snow machines and other surprises that come with this fantastic production. Tickets are $20 for the 8 p.m. family-friendly show.

Polar Express Sing-A-Long

Mother McAuley and its student choirs will bring the beloved Christmas story of The Polar Express to life as they sing and dance while we show the movie on our giant theatre screen.  Come out on Saturday, December 7 for either a 1:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. showing. Tickets are $8 in advance, or $10 at the door. Click on the image to buy tickets. 

Kevin Dowling Toy Drive

The annual Kevin Dowling Toy Drive will commence at 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 W. 115h St., Merrionette Park, featuring children’s activities and crafts, Happy Jacks and snacks. Santa is also rumored to be stopping by. There is no cost to attend this event, just bring a new unwrapped toy. Toys will be collected for Little Company of Mary Hospital, Courage of Oak Lawn, LaRabida Hospital and Loyola Hospital’s Ronald McDonald Child Life Program. 3 p.m.

Christmas for Kids Vendor Fair

Jacobs Well Church at 3450 W. Maple Ave., in Evergreen Park, is the scene of the Christmas for Kids Vendor Fair, featuring an array of vendors and crafters. Admission is $5. Proceeds will go toward buying Christmas gifts for Evergreen Park in need. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Breakfast With Santa - Calvary Lutheran Church

Join Santa for breakfast for festive music, crafts and other fun activities at Calvary Lutheran Church at 11249 S. Spaulding Ave., in Chicago. Bring a new, unwrapped toy. A suggested offering of $3 per person is greatly appreciated. Don’t forget to bring your camera.  All toy donations will be given to Toys for Tots. 

Kriser’s Grand Opening - Orland Park

All-natural pet food and supply retailer Kriser’s is holding a weekend-long grand opening celebration at its new store at 15160 S. LaGrange Road in Orland Park on Saturday and Sunday. Bring your furry and feathered friends and enjoy special promotions. giveaways, free nail trimmings, complimentary pet photos and more. Kriser’s opens at 10 a.m. both days.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8

Children’s Christmas Craft Workshop

Children ages 3-13 and their parents can make their own handmade decorations, ornaments and gingerbread houses at Pilgrim Faith United Church of Christ’s annual Christmas Craft Workshop. A small charge of 10-cents to $1 will be charged per each craft. The workshop kicks off with caroling, the lighting of the Christmas tree and refreshments. 2 p.m. Contact office@pilgrimfaith.org or 708-422-4200 for more information.Pilgrim Faith is located at 9411 W. 51st Ave. in Oak Lawn.

Hearts for Hope Breakfast With Santa

Santa Claus is coming to breakfast at the Ridge Country Club at 10522 S California Ave. in Chicago. The annual Hearts for Hope fundraiser features a full breakfast buffet with Santa and his helpers. Children can share their wish lists and have their pictures taken with Santa, and participate in holiday activities, including storytelling and crafts. Proceeds benefit Advocate Children’s Hospital - Oak Lawn. Two seatings at 9 a.m. and noon. Adults, $28; children, $20. Bandcake Breakfast

The Brother Rice and Mother McAuley Band invites you to the 2nd Annual "Bandcake" Breakfast on from 8 a.m. to noon at Brother Rice High School, 10001 South Pulaski Road, Chicago IL. Admission is $6 for adults, seniors and children ages 5-12 are $3, and children ages 4 and under eat free.
