Snapshots from Midway Airport

Holiday travelers at Midway Airport just before Christmas can get free gift wrapping today.

More than 94 million people are expected to travel for the Christmas holiday, according to AAA, but air travel is expected to decrease by 1.4 percent to 5.5 million people this year even though airfares are down a bit from last year.

The Chicago Department of Aviation anticipates more than 4 million passengers will travel through Chicago's airports from Friday, Dec. 20, through Monday, Jan. 6.

The CDA will offer its annual complimentary gift-wrapping services in the terminals past security at both airports on Dec. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Midway and from noon to 5 p.m. at O'Hare. This service accommodates passengers traveling with gifts, who are advised to not bring wrapped gifts through security checkpoints because they may need to be unwrapped for inspection by security officers.
