Mount Carmel and Saint Rita Set For Playoff Battle Tonight
It will be a battle of the South Side football powerhouses as the two teams move on to second-round play in IHSA Class 7A football.
It will be a battle of two South Side teams with a rich football history dating back decades.
For the first time since 2005, Mount Carmel and Saint Rita are set to meet in an IHSA playoff game. The Caravan and Mustangs will be playing in the second round of the Class 7A playoffs Friday night. The game starts at 7 p.m. at Gately Stadium.
Both teams come into the game with a 9-1 record, although the Caravan handed Rita its only loss this season winning their regular season match up 24-3.
Both teams won big last week with Mount Carmel topping Benet Academy 49-6 and St. Rita coming out on top over Willowbrook with a final score of 34-6.
