When Are Chicago Public Schools Making Up Snow Days?

Two more days have been added to the CPS calendar.

Bitter cold weather and a dumping of snow last week left public and private schools across Chicago closed last Monday and Tuesday and schools are now faced with the fun task of tacking extra days onto the calendar.

CPS has announced that they will make up for last week's days off by holding classes on March 28, which students previously had off. They will also end the year on June 11, a day later than planned.

While the school system would have met the state required number of school days without adding the additional days of class, a CPS spokeswoman told the Chicago Tribune that adding the days was in the best interest of students.

Illinois requires schools to hold at least 175 instructional days. CPS students attend 181 days of class. You can find the full school calendar on CPS' website
