Mayor Rahm Emanuel to Speak at Democratic National Convention Tuesday

Chicago and Illinois will be well represented today as Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Gov. Pat Quinn and First Lady Michelle Obama all take the stage this evening.

It will be the night of familiar Chicago faces at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday.

This evening's schedule of speakers has been revealed and some familiar faces will be addressing the assembled delegates in North Carolina.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is scheduled to speak just after 8 p.m. Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn is also on the schedule and was handed a slot around 6:30 p.m.

Emanuel has decided to cut his convention stay short as an impending Chicago Teachers Union strike looms, the Sun-Times reports

The main attraction tonight is First Lady Michelle Obama whose address will take place sometime after 9 p.m. and will be broadcast on the major networks.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the Illinois delegation was given some prime seats at the convention. They will be seated front and center in the arena.

Tuesday's full speaker schedule can be found on the convention's website.

Do you think Emanuel should have stayed in Chicago to work instead of attending the convention?
