Dart Darts From Higher Office Run, Will Seek Third Term as Sheriff

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart will not be running for a higher office and will instead focus his efforts on a re-election campaign. 

Dart, a local resident, was seen as a possible frontrunner for Illinois Attorney General should Lisa Madigan choose to mount a gubernatorial run, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

“I’m going to run for re-election,” Dart was quoted by the Tribune as saying. 

Dart was elected sheriff in 2006 after serving as chief of staff to former sheriff Michael Sheahan.
