Woman Grabbed on Evergreen Park Street, Cops Say

Evergreen Park police say woman was able to knock man to ground after he grabbed her from behind on street corner Sunday evening.


Evergreen Park Police are appealing to the public after a man grabbed a 24-year-old woman from behind on Sunday evening.

Police said the woman was walking in the 10200 block of South Central Park Avenue around 9:50 p.m. when an unknown male grabbed her in a “wrestling move.”

The woman told police she had been out for a walk and had stopped at the traffic light at 103rd Street and Central Park Avenue. As she did so, the man approached her from behind and grabbed the back of her right leg and right shoulder, a police news advisory said.

Police said the woman was able to turn around and knock the man to the ground, and began screaming. The man fled on foot northbound on South Central Park, possibly turning westbound on 102nd Street.

She described the offender as a male Hispanic, 5’04”, 150 pounds, 18 to 20 years of age, olive complexion with black spiky hair. He was wearing a black zippered hoodie, white shirt, dark faded jeans and dark shoes.
