Funeral Arrangements Set For Fallen Firefighter Walter Patmon, Jr.

A funeral and wake will be held next week. A fund has been established to help the veteran firefighter's family.

Funeral arrangements have been set for Walter Patmon, Jr, CFD Truck 40.

Patmon, 61, an 18-year veteran of the department died on Nov. 11 after collapsing at the Beverly firehouse after returning from a fire.

Visitation will be held at Leak Funeral Home, 7838 S. Cottage Grove, on Tuesday, Nov. 20 from 4p.m. to 9 p.m. A final salute will take place at 6 p.m. 

The funeral will take place at the Apostolic Church of God, 6320 S. Dorchester, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21. The church will open at 10 a.m. for a wake.  

Patmon will be buried at Restvale Cemetery, 11700 S. Laramie, in Alsip.

A fund has been established for his family. Donations can be made at any BMO Harris Bank location. Checks can be made payable to the Walter Patmon Memorial Fund. The account number for the fund is 4811970829.

The City again comes together to honor a true public servant, and to be there for his family,and for this, the entire Chicago Fire Department family is again grateful," said CFD Lt. Tony Martin, in a release. "We're also grateful to BMO Harris Bank for their concern and kindness in remembering Chicago's first responders by establishing this memorial fund in Walter's name and by their pending financial contribution to Walter's memorial fund."
