Bandit Knocks Off Mt. Greenwood Bank in 'Non-Takeover' Robbery: Cops

Investigators say man passed note demanding money, fled on foot. Suspect did not appear to be armed.


A man passed a note demanding money at a Mt. Greenwood bank on Monday afternoon fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money, Chicago Breaking News reported.

Chicago Police said the robber walked into the U.S. Bank branch at 11159 S. Kedzie Ave. around 12:40 p.m. He passed a demand note to the teller and fled on foot. There were no injuries.

The FBI is describing the heist as a “non-takeover” robbery, since the robber did not use overt force. He appeared to be unarmed.

The bank robber is described as a male black, approximately six feet tall. He was wearing a white T-shirt, faded dark shorts, black-rimmed glasses and a black cap covering his head.
