Attempted Murder Charge For Man Accused of Attack on Railroad Police Officer

The Sunday night incident left a Chicago man with a laundry list of charges.

A Chicago man faces serious charges after a Sunday night incident near the Southwest Service Metra line. 

On Jan. 19 at 10:20 p.m. Chicago Police officers responded to a call of an officer in distress in the 3200 block of W. Columbus Avenue.

They found Nathan Haywood, 24, of the 8100 block of Spaulding Ave., striking a railroad police officer, according to Chicago Police Department News Affairs. Officers immediately placed Haywood into custody. 

He was charged with felony aggravated battery of a police officer, felony attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer, felony aggravated battery, resisting a peace officer, felony disarming a peace officer and criminal trespassing.
