Consumer Reports Names Palos in Top 10 among Chicago Area Hospitals for Patient Safety

Consumer Reports has released patient safety scores for U.S. hospitals and places Palos Community Hospital in the Top 10 among 71 Chicago area hospitals.

“We are committed to providing our patients with high quality care and are pleased to be among this elite group of health care providers,” says Terrence Moisan. M.D., interim CEO of Palos Community Hospital. “This recognition is testament to the dedication of our staff.”

The safety scores were tallied by combining five key measures: mortality, readmissions, overuse of CT scans, hospital-acquired infections and communication based on the latest data from the Centers for Medicare & Medical Services. Palos earned Consumer Report’s highest rating in avoiding surgical mortality.
