The late Michael J. Murphy, or Murph, devoted his life to music. Guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Murph played in four bands, all of which circulated through a variety of venues, pubs, and festivals throughout the Chicagoland area and beyond. His band Leave had released three albums of original songs, gaining widespread respect in addition to being featured on Chicago radio station WXRT.

Murph
also taught at the Music School in Oak Lawn. He encouraged all to participate in
the making of music. His life and lessons were cut short on June, 6 2008 when

he was killed by a hit and run driver.
