January 20th is National Granola Day. Granola is made of rolled oats, nuts, and honey and is baked until it’s crisp. It’s popular as a snack, snack bar, cereal, and topping. Granola comes in all sorts of flavors, and people and food companies add lots of different ingredients to it.

It’s widely thought of as a healthy food product, but that isn’t always so. If you’re looking for a healthy, store-bought granola, be sure to read the labels! They will tell you how many calories a given granola product contains, how much fat is in it, and what chemicals or preservatives it contains. It only stands to reason that chocolate chips in a granola bar, or ones containing high fructose corn syrup may come with unwanted calories and ingredients.

We make a pretty mean granola bar here at Easy Weekly Meals. And while it isn’t strictly healthy, as it’s got a little brown sugar and chocolate, it’s delicious! If you’d like to try your hand at making your own fresh granola bars just complete a contact form to receive our newsletter, and we’ll send you our recipe. This month’s newsletter contains a sneak peak at one of the key recipes in our new A-La-Carte Recipe Ensembles, available to newsletter recipients only.

Enjoy National Granola Day, and enjoy your sneak peak!
