Photos: Funkie Fashions Opens in Mt. Greenwood

The newest addition to the Mt. Greenwood business district offers affordable and stylish women's clothing and accessories.

There's a new shop in the neighborhood and its owners are about as local as you can get.

Caley Funk opened Funkie Fashions, 3522 W. 111th St., just over a week ago. The shop aims to provide women of all ages and sizes with fashionable clothing and accessories at an affordable price.

A fixture at local trunk shows, Funk had already developed a client base when she decided to open up a storefront. The store sells clothing, accessories and jewelry.

The inventory changes often and Funk aims to offer customers a unique shopping experience that will keep them from having to travel to Chicago Ridge or Orland Park to find the perfect outfit.

"I don't want everyone to have the same clothes," Funk said. "I want it to feel like you are getting unique items."

Funk says that the clothes are a mix of casual everyday wear and items that you might pick out for a special occasion. She sees her shop as a place where women can add special pieces to their wardrobe.

Special product lines include Big Buddha handbags and Tru Blooms perfume. The affordable fragrance line is manufactured from locally-sourced flowers from Chicago.

Funk lives in Mt. Greenwood with her children and husband John, who is a firefighter at the Mt. Greenwood firehouse.

The store is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 4 p.m.

A special grand opening event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9 with special discounts and gifts.

Funkie Fashions will still participate in home trunk shows. For more information on the store and its products visit their Facebook page
