Business Comings & Goings: Rainbow Cone Reopens Next Week

Rainbow Cone to break winter hibernation next week | Pizza Hut opens in Evergreen Park | Great Clips coming to Merrionette Park.

Rainbow Cone at 9233 S. Western Ave. in Beverly will reopen at noon on Wednesday, March 6, with its grand reopening celebration on Saturday, March 9.

For the first time, the ice cream shop will give away free Rainbow Cone T-shirts to the first 100 people through the door at noon on March 9. All customers that day can enter a drawing to win up to five times the purchase amount of their ice cream. There will be five grand prize winners and 10 additional winners.

In March, the shop will be closed Monday and Tuesday and open from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

The shop does warn fans that it may close early because of inclement weather.

Papa John’s Tries Again in Oak Lawn

Papa John’s pizza, the national chain with Broncos QB Peyton Manning as its spokesman, is trying again in Oak Lawn.

Its latest endeavor opened a few weeks ago at 10308 S. Cicero Ave. An earlier franchise that opened on 95th Street closed some time ago.

The new store offers delivery daily from 10:30 a.m. to midnight and carryout orders from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. It also accepts online orders.

Pizza Hut now open in Evergreen

Pizza Hut opened at 2849 W. 95th St. in Evergreen Park a few weeks ago in the former Potayto Potahto.

The national chain offers delivery and carryout from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Mariano's sneak peek

Now that Mariano's has been announced as the anchor tenant for the 111th Street and Cicero Avenue redevelopment project, some residents want to know what to expect.

Anyone who wants a sneak peek can head to Frankfort next Tuesday. That’s when the Milwaukee-based supermarket chain will open its newest store at U.S. 30 and LaGrange Road.

That store is being billed as the chain’s biggest to date and will employ at least 450 full-time and part-time employees

Great Clips to open near Bourbon Street

Great Clips, a national chain of hair salons with more than 3,000 locations, is opening its newest store on Friday at 3333 W. 115th St. in an old cell phone store in front of 115 Bourbon Street lounge in Merrionette Park.

Hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Home Improvement and Garden Show coming

The spring Home Improvement and Garden Show is coming to the Southland from March 1-3.

Show hours at the Tinley Park Convention Center, 186th Street and Harlem Avenue, are 4-8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The show is billed as the largest home improvement show in the Southland. 

Homeowners looking to find home improvement ideas, contractors, product manufacturers and inspiration will find nearly 200 exhibitors all under one roof.

Admission is $6 for adults.

Palos Hospital to open new pavilion

Palos Community Hospital is inviting members of the Orland Park, Palos and Homer Township chambers of commerce to a reception from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, celebrating the opening of the new Hospitaller Pavilion at its Palos Heights campus at 12251 S. 80th Avenue.

There will be tours of the new pavilion including its patient rooms, intensive care unit, advanced operating suites and Center for Short Stay Care.
