Now, in the present day, on the exact same date, 13-year-old Sinikka is missing, her bicycle abandoned in the same spot, leading police to suspect the same killer may be at work again.  "...an ambitious work that becomes fractured as all the story lines are laid out before us." -Robert Clifford, Reeling Reviews

Evocateur: The Morton Downey Jr. Movie

ct 9, 7:30 pm
$7.50 / $5.50 BAC Members

R [Adult language] RT 1:30

Before entire networks were built on populist personalities; before reality morphed into a TV genre; the masses fixated on a single, sociopathic star: controversial talk-show host Morton Downey, Jr. In the late '80s, Downey tore apart the traditional talk format by turning debate of current issues into a gladiator pit. His blow-smoke-in-your-face style drew a rabid cult following, but also the title "Father of Trash Television." ÉVOCATEUR: THE MORTON DOWNEY JR. MOVIE dissects the mind and motivation of television's most notorious agitator. (c) Magnolia "A frank and worthy look at the trashy demagogue who ruled the airwaves in a spectacular, and spectacularly brief, two-year run." -Kyle Smith, New York Post

Grabbers

Oct 16, 7:30pm
$7.50 / $5.50 BAC Members

R [Adult language, Adult Situations, Violence]. RT 1:34

On Erin Island, an idyllic fishing village off the coast of Ireland, charming but somewhat work-shy Ciaran O'Shea, is tasked with greeting Lisa Nolan, a straight-laced young officer who has arrived from the mainland. Not that there is much for them to do, aside from dealing with the occasional drunk, and that's usually O'Shea himself. But strange doings are afoot: the crew of a fishing boat disappears, whales start appearing dead on the shore, a local lobsterman catches a strange tentacled creature in his trap. Soon it becomes clear to O'Shea and Nolan that there's something big out there, and that it's hungry. It's time to rally the villagers, arm the troops...and head to the pub. (c) Ifc Midnight  "This ambitious mix of mirth and menace is an offbeat and hugely enjoyable affair." -Alan Jones, Radio Time

Lucas, a former school teacher, has been forced to start over having overcome a tough divorce and the loss of his job. Just as things are starting to go his way, his life is shattered when an untruthful remark throws his small community into a collective state of hysteria. As the lie spreads, Lucas is forced to fight a lonely fight for his life and dignity. (c) Magnolia  "The Hunt offers a powerful, provocative study of mob mentality and the fabric of trust." -Steven Rea, Philadelphia
