SXU's Farrell Forum Lecture Explores History of Marshall Fields, April 8

Join historian Leslie Goddard as she discusses the history of Marshall Field's on Tuesday as part of Saint Xavier University's 2014 John T. Farrell, Sr. Forum.

For more than 150 years Marshall Field’s reigned supreme as Chicago’s leading department store, celebrated for its exceptional service, spectacular window displays and fashionable merchandise. It was the Marshall Field's that coined the phrase -- “Give the lady what she wants" -- and started the nation's first bridal registry.

Historian Leslie Goddard discusses the history of Marshall Field’s as part of Saint Xavier University’s 2014 John T, Farrell, Sr. Forum this Tuesday, April 8.  "Remembering Marshall Field's,”  starts at 11:30 a.m. in the Butler Reception Room, located in the Warde Academic Center at SXU's Chicago campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Goddard will trace the history of Marshall Field's from its beginnings as a dry goods store in 1852 to its growth into a world-class fashion trendsetter and international tourist destination.
