Local Firefighter Will Compete at Sertoma Centre’s BIG Event and Cook-off on May 3.

Fred Heller, of the Lemont Fire Protection District Station 4, will be heating up the competition this year in the Firehouse cook-off at the BIG Event on May 3, at 115 Bourbon Street. Heller is from Mount Greenwood and plans on setting things a blaze in the chili division!

Last year Fred’s wife, Diane Heller a paramedic with the Chicago Fire Department decided to challenge her husband and several other firefighters by entering her chili in the cook-off.  This year Fred is flying solo but determined to take home the Chili Trophy with his Firehouse Chili.

Come out and support these awesome firefighters and paramedics, who not only serve the community, they support individuals with disabilities. Firefighters from Crestwood, Blue Island, Robbins, Lombard, Niles and two Chicago Firehouses as well as Paramedic from Naperville all plan to fire things up on Saturday, May 3, from 5 – 9 p.m. at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park, IL.    Sponsored by local Sertoma Clubs and the Aileen S. Andrew Foundation, attendees can sample the food as guest judges select the best firefighter chefs in the competition.
