Fast Facts: The girls all-star game has some major star power, with Syracuse recruit Amber Witherspoon of Lincoln Park, SMU-bound Whitney Young player Taylor Brame and 6-foot-5 Whitney Young center Khaalia Hillsman, who is headed to Texas A&M. Hillsman led the Dolphins to the Class 4A state title in March and will get the opportunity to play one more game on her home court, flanked by teammates Brame, Tenita Allen and Kiara Lewis. On the boys side, it’s one last shot for college exposure for some talented players who didn’t get the headlines of some of the elite city players this season. Many of them have interesting back stories, such as Class 3A state champion Morgan Park’s trio of Markus Johnson, Mannie Robinson and Dellan Whatley. Kamar Marshall came out of nowhere to help Curie win the city title. DuSable’s Isaac Buford and Dontrell Whitaker then stunned Curie in the regional semifinals. Uplift’s Quintin Olagbegi fought back after missing nearly two seasons due to a gunshot wound, but returned this season. Young star Miles Reynolds gets another home game after winning the state title.
