Select CPS Sites Open For Limited Hours During Teachers Strike
CPS will operate 144 schools for limited hours. We pulled together the closest.
The Chicago Public Schools has put together a "Children First Plan" that allows parents who are unable to arrange child care a place to bring their children.
CPS will operate 144 centers with limited hours. Parents must sign their child up through the CPS website with a student ID number. The centers will be operated by non-union staff, mostly administrators and central office personnel.
Registration is at no cost. You can call (773) 553-2500 for more information. The centers will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 3-1-1 will also be available to direct parents toward the best site.
The closest area locations are:
- Mt. Greenwood Elementary, 10841 S Homan Ave Chicago, IL
- Chicago Agricultural High School, 3857 West 111th Street
The Chicago Tribune pulled together a useful FAQ article that addresses other possible areas of concern for parents.
Some park, library and church locations will also be open to provide activities for students. More information can be found here.
