In voting for Patch's MVP for Oct. 15-21, who gets the biggest roar from the crowd?
Sandburg's Paige Bendell showed off her all-around game in the Eagles' 25-20, 25-22 volleyball victory over Lincoln-Way Central. Bendell finished with 20 digs, 11 assists and 10 kills.
Shepard's Devon Landfair rushed for more than 200 yards and scored three touchdowns in the Astros' 53-14 football victory over Argo. Shepard faces Chicago Perspectives in the opening round of the Class 6A playoffs.
Gaby Rosales won six of eight matches and placed sixth in the IHSA girls state tennis tournament. Included was a 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Ari Dechter of Mundelein in the fourth round of play in the winner's bracket.
Mallory Salis led Marist to five straight victories and the team title in the Nike National Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz. She was named the tourney's MVP. Salis also was named East Suburban Catholic Conference volleyball "Player of the Year" after leading the RedHawks to a straight-sets victory over Carmel and to undisputed possession of the conference championship.
