Sandburg's Rachel Ruzevich outpolled seven others in voting for Southland Patch's MVP, Dec. 17-23. She is now eligible for Patch Athlete of the Month honors.

In voting for Southland Patch's MVP for Dec. 17-23, who gets the biggest roar from the crowd?
Andrew's Cassie Boat bowled a 243 game and 434 series in the Thunderbolts' 1,835 to 1,696 victory over Lincoln-Way West.
Oak Lawn's Jannah Mahmoud had 13 points and 12 rebounds against Rich East. She had six points and five rebounds against Sandburg. And she had 11 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in a 53-34 loss to Romeoville.
Stagg's Revi McMahon scored 11 points in the Chargers' 48-13 victory over Thornridge.
Marian Catholic's Ashton Millender scored 14 points in the Spartans' 61-34 girls basketball victory over Kankakee Bishop McNamara.
Sandburg's Rachel Ruzevich helped the Eagles place third in the Oak Lawn Tournament. She scored 19 points in a 42-34 victory over Oak Lawn.

Ron, did you know Rachel is the first Sandburg basketball player to receive a full college basketball scholarship in over 5 years. Rachel signed her letter of intent to play at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. Rachel will be playing for Coach Cari Lohr.
