Six-year-old Mt. Greenwood resident Luke Amelio is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia. His classmates at Cassell Elementary School were inspired by his fight and wanted to help their friend.

Brownies and girl scouts from the school organized a Girl Scout cookie sale at Walgreen's in Mt. Greenwood last weekend and added a special component for Luke. A large jar collected donations for their friend to help him and his family as he embarks on three years of treatment.

A St. Baldrick's Day event will also take place at Cassell on March 9 and Luke's mom Jen Amelio will be one of many participants to shave her head in solidarity with her son.

You can donate to the St. Baldrick's Foundation in Luke's honor on the organizations site.
