Alsip Woman Cashes in $1 Million Lottery Ticket

An Alsip resident won $1 million off an instant scratch ticket last week.

An Alsip woman is set to receive a hefty check after claiming her prize last week.

Alice Griffin was out running errands in Blue Island when she decided to grab a $10 Cash Spectacular scratch ticket, according to a news release. She waited until the next day to scratch it.

“When I play a scratch ticket, I don’t scratch the whole thing. I remove just enough to see my winning numbers. When I saw I had an “Auto win” I thought I had won $10 or so,” Griffin said in a news release. “When I saw it was $1 million, I was in disbelief! First thing I did was sign the back of my ticket. Then I called my sister and my friend and they came over to double check my ticket."
